Creator's Meeting: The First Step for Young Creators
Two up and coming directors whose short films were nominated at SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL 2005 will discuss the process of directing their first features and their film festival experiences overseas. Danny Krausz, an Austrian film producer, will join Kakehi and Kumasaka at a postscreening Q&A.
Masaya Kakehi's Loss Time Life and Izuru Kumasaka's Coffee and Milk will be screened.

Masaya Kakehi (director/Japan) ![]() |
Born 1977 in Tokyo, Kakehi graduated from Nihon University, College of Art, Department of Cinema. His short films Scrap (1998) and Haraise (2000) were both invited to Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival, and Canned Beauties (2003) won Grand Prix at the same festival and subsequently released in theaters. In 2005, Kakehi re-made Canned Beauties as a part of Strangest Stories Ever Told for Fuji TV and published a novelized version. He also wrote Tokyo Serendipity (2007) starring Yui Aragaki. For Loss Time Life, an original TV drama, Kakehi served as a chief director and a writer. His first feature film Accuracy of Death starring Takeshi Kaneshiro opened in theaters in spring of 2008. |

Izuru Kumasaka (director/Japan) ![]() |
Born 1975 in Saitama, Kumasaka studied English Literature at Rikkyo University, College of Arts. After working as a graphic designer, he joined TV Man Union as an assistant director. In 2005, Coffee and Milk won the Best Picture in short film competition at SKIP City International D-Cinema Festival as well as Creative Award, Project Award, and Special Jury Award at PIA FILM FESTIVAL. In 2008, his first feature length film Asyl-Park and Love Hotel won the Best First Feature award at Berlin International Film Festival. |

Danny Krausz founded DOR FILM with Milan Dor in 1988 to create an innovative production studio for young directors. Many years of experience as a founder was an ideal background for DOR FILM's successful development into one of the leading feature film production studios in Austria. As a board member of EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs), Danny has been a trainer for young producers around Europe for many years. He has produced over 100 films and TV programs, many of which are by the first time directors. |
