SKIP CITY
The SKIP CITY was created with the main aim of contributing to the evolution of the audio-visual related industry as a core industry in the modern era. This complex consists of industrial, administrative and academic facilities, opened in Kawaguchi City, Saitama, Japan in February 2003. As the nucleus of the SKIP CITY, the Sai-No-Kuni Visual Plaza consists of facilities such as the Studio, Audio Visual Hall, Edit Suites and aims to produce top creators capable to becoming part of the new era of audio-visual production.

Program
1) COMPETITION SECTION
a. INTERNATIONAL FEATURE COMPETITON
This year, we are pleased to present ten feature films from around the world, shot in the digital format and produced for theatrical distribution. Ten nominees were selected from 194 submissions. International jury members will present five awards at the closing ceremony.
b. DOMESTIC SHORT COMPETITON
This year, we are pleased to present ten Japanese short films shot and exhibited in digital format. The ten nominees were selected from 264 submissions. Jury President Masanobu Takashima and the members of the Citizens’ Circle to Support SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL will present three awards at the closing ceremony.

2) SPECIAL SCREENING (Opening Screening)

3) Spotlight on Nordic Shorts
This year, SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL is proud to present digital shorts from Nordic countries such as Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland. This fine selection of Nordic shorts features award-winning films that have traveled to the most prestigious international festivals. We hope you enjoy them.

4) D-Contents Market
CREATOR’S STUDIO 2005
The second annual D-Contents Market will provide Japanese filmmakers with an opportunity to present their projects to film producers, distribution companies, and potential financiers.

5) SYMPOSIUM
With Digital Cinema Initiatives (USA) setting the industry standard and overall system requirements for digital cinema, the exploration of new business models has become necessary to revitalize the film industry. We are proud to provide opportunities for such exploration through our 2005 Symposium.

6) FORUM
French filmmaker, Pitof, a member of the festival’s International Competition Jury, will be joined by a Japanese filmmaker to be announced at a later date. The two will discuss the use of visual effects and digital technology and the contrast between French and Japanese filmmaking.
