D-MAP2009 Special Kick Off Event

"Search and Create the movie of tomorrow"

United Cinema has five multiplex theaters in Saitama Prefecture and they operate as the cultural institutions of the communities, actively involved in producing community cinemas and hosting barrier free screenings. Every year, United Cinema hosts Cinema Plot Competition, a plot competition accepting submission from all over Japan. In 2008, a support program for emerging filmmakers D-MAP (D-cinema Making Associate Program) was launched. The program offers an opportunity for filmmakers from the Incubation Office at SKIP City Sai-no-kuni Visual Plaza to direct a theatrical feature film based on a story submitted at Cinema Plot Competition. The first film to be produced by D-MAP, Solo Contest (directed by Takeshi Shimojo) has been completed and there will be a screening and a presentation of D-MAP and Cinema Plot Competition, which will be accepting submissions, plus talk shows with filmmakers and the jury members of this year's film festival.
