Family Deck

Seven Divinities of Good Luck plays a trick on the Takada family who runs a barbershop. The film depicts various events of the family's daily life portraying a family living in a town of the Showa era.

Director's Profile

Tomoyasu Murata

Born 1974 in Tokyo. Murata's animated short, Nostalgia (2000), won the Excellence Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival, while another short, Scarlet Road (2002), won Grand Prix at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival. Recently, he has published manga works, created live action short pieces and produced three dimensional object installments. His other credits include White Road (2003).


Lie of the Gorilla

A con man visits an old woman to cheat money out of her. As he pretends to be her son and she plays along, his vile intention is deterred. But what is the true intention of the old woman?

Isao Kusakari

Kusakari is an actor working primarily on stage. Since 2005, he has started directing short films. Touzoku Boogie (2007) won the Special Jury Prize at the Yamagata International Movie Festival. Kusakari returns to SKIP City this year with Lie of the Gorilla (2010), his first festival entry since 2008 with An Eye of a Golden Fish (2007).


Strawberry Jam

One day, Eriko offers her homemade strawberry jam to her friend. When she sees him dipping his finger and licking it for a taste, she becomes electrified linking strawberry jam to her feeling she had never before experienced.

Director's Profile

Norihiro Niwatsukino

While attending the Kyushu Institute of Design, Niwatsukino formed an independent film production group, Tricycle Film, and started directing short and feature films, which subsequently screened and won awards at various film festivals. After graduating from the Graduate School of Design at Kyushu University, he moved to Tokyo and now works as a freelance director.
