Created in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Godzilla’s genesis, Takashi Yamazaki—known for his hits such as ALWAYS-Sunset on Third Street- and THE ETERNAL ZERO—brings new life to “Godzilla” in the modern era with breathtaking imagery and intricate character portrayals through his directing, writing and handling of visual effects. This film is set in postwar Japan, ravaged by fires and reduced to ashes. While citizens stand unable to even wrap their minds around how to rebuild, Godzilla, a symbol of destruction, suddenly appears before them. Godzilla’s staggering force plunges a society looking to start anew from a state of zero into a negative, a state of even deeper turmoil. After persevering through a harsh period, nameless citizens search for a way to keep going and stand up to the imminent threat to their survival.
